An Extension of the International Low Vision Support Group


About the Program

Description: ILVSG TeleSupport is a year-round program of monthly group support sessions held over the telephone. It is designed for low vision seniors in the United States who have no access to the Internet or cannot attend a live support group. A session typically includes a brief update on recent research and developments, followed by listening to and discussing the current month’s recorded ILVSG presentation. See the Schedule of Presentations. Each session will include the moderator and an average of 8-12 registered members.

Members who wish to do so may share their phone numbers with others in the group for personal communication outside of the scheduled sessions. This aspect of the program is optional, with phone numbers otherwise remaining totally private.

Cost: Absolutely FREE!

Why Are We Doing This? 

Information and human interaction are vital to maintaining quality of life when dealing with loss of vision. But, due to disabilitylack of transportation, or lack of Internet access, a large number of low vision seniors are being left out. This program is our way of reaching those people with the same resources and support we have been sharing with millions of others since 1998 through our website and public outreach programs.

Presenters: Leading speakers on the topics of low vision care, research, low vision products, rehabilitation, and daily living with low vision.

Obligations of Membership: None. There are no attendance requirements, contracts, fees or required purchases.


How to Become a Member in 3 Easy Steps

Step 1: Call us toll free at 1-888-866-6148. Please leave a message if necessary.

Step 2: The TeleSupport moderator, Dan Roberts, will invite you to be a guest at an upcoming session. He will give you the phone number to call, as well as the passcode to enter one of three identical 45-minute sessions. The times from which to choose are:

Pacific Mountain Central Eastern
7:00 AM 8:00 AM 9:00 AM 10:00 AM
9:00 AM 10:00 AM 11:00 AM 12:00 Noon
10:00 AM 11:00 AM 12:00 AM 1:00 Noon

Step 3: Remember your day and time. At the end of the session, if you would like to be a TeleSupport regular, Dan will ask for your address so you can begin receiving the monthly newsletters.
