An Extension of the International Low Vision Support Group

About the Program

Description: ILVSG TeleSupport is a year-round program of monthly group support sessions held over the telephone. It is designed for low vision seniors in the United States who have no Internet access or cannot attend a live support group. A session typically includes a brief update on recent research and developments, followed by listening to and discussing the current month’s recorded ILVSG presentation. Each session includes the moderator and an average of 8-12 registered members. All registered members receive monthly newsletters through postal mail containing previews of upcoming sessions and reports on latest research and developments.

Cost: Absolutely FREE!

Why Are We Doing This?

Information and human interaction are vital to maintaining quality of life when dealing with loss of vision. But, due to disability, lack of transportation, lack of Internet access, or inaccessibility of a live group, a large number of low vision seniors are being left out. This program is our way of reaching those people with the same resources and support we have been sharing with millions of others since 1998 through our website and public outreach programs.

Step 2: The TeleSupport moderator, Dan Roberts, will invite you to be a guest at an upcoming session. He will give you the phone number to call, as well as the passcode to enter one of three identical 45-minute sessions. The times from which to choose are:

Pacific Mountain Central Eastern

Step 3: Make note of the time you have chosen, the call-in number, and the passcode. Your newsletter will remind you of these numbers and of the date of the upcoming session, but having the information by your phone is a good backup plan.

That’s all there is to it. We look forward to welcoming you to our group!
