TeleSupport
About the Program
Founded in 2008, ILVSG TeleSupport was a highly successful free year-round program of monthly group support sessions held over the telephone. It was designed and moderated by MD Support Director Dan Roberts for low vision seniors in the United States who had no access to in-person support groups. Sessions typically included brief updates on recent research and developments, followed by listening to and discussing the current month’s presentation from the library of the International Low Vision Support Group (ILVSG). Each 1-hour session included the moderator and an average of 8-12 registered members. Due to development of more advanced and less expensive communication options, the TeleSupport program ended after 17 years of helping more than 200 grateful participants.
