Diagnosis
Wet AMD

Eyes Affected
Left

Eye Color
Blue

Age at Diagnosis
73 with Dry, turned wet at 77 (Sept. 2007)

Acuity
20/30 left, 20/20 right (corrected with implanted lens plus glasses)

Treatment
Lutein for dry. Haven't decided on wet yet. Additional problem: I'm allergic to drugs/chemicals given to achieve visibility of angiogram (eye or heart). This plus cataracts in affected eye makes it difficult to get pictures for diagnosis, and laser treatments for dry were not feasible.

Prognosis or Current State of Vision
Right eye (no AMD symptoms) very good. Left is a bit fuzzy, making it not possible to read street signs with that eye when driving. All vision in that eye is slightly blurred.

Family History
None

Impact on My Life
So far, minimal. I avoid driving at night, see RS monthly. Will probably start receiving shot in left eye for wet starting with my next visit.

Adaptations
Currently, only the avoidance of driving at night.

Employment
Retired
