Prognosis or Current State of
Vision
Stable. However, I still have wavy lines and distortations which the doctors cannot explain.
Family History
Parents only had reading glasses. Brothers/Sisters have some lens correction, but nothing major. I had glasses since age 2, but was informed of pathological myopia or MMD.
Impact on My Life
I still work, but am depressed about the future. I do not want to depend on others, and I want to keep working. I drive, but only in areas I know.
Positive Effects
None
Adaptations
I use some aids such as 21' computer monitor and increase the font size of reading materials. I struggle with close up reading and feel that may be due to age, whereby bifocals are getting to be necessary. I still struggle with the image I see in my left eye, which creates wavy lines.
Employment
Work full time... mostly computer work.
More About Me
Married and have two grown children. All three with great sight. I love to read, but that gets to be frustrating. I would love to do more crafts, but can't get a straight line. I enjoy walking and biking. I would like to do more sports, however per doc, must be careful not to hurt the eye.
