Both

Treatment
None. Taking medication for HBP, Bausch and Lomb Areds, Omega 3, Self test with Amsler Grid and close follow-ups with RS.

Prognosis or Current State of Vision
Prognosis is unknown at this time. My first diagnosis was AVMD in the right eye...the second diagnosis was PED. My corrected vision is still very good. If I close my L eye, I have some distortion in the right eye and have trouble reading with my right eye only.

Family History
No family history of MD.

Impact on My Life
It has been a huge emotional impact. When I was first diagnosed in 12/06, I would go to sleep at night afraid I would wake up blind the next day.

My husband and I moved into town to be closer to transportation options and closer to medical services.

I am rethinking how I spend my time.

There isn't a local MD support group in this area. As a matter of fact, there is very little support here at all.

I don't know what or how much information to share with friends, especially since I currently have pretty good vision. I dread being asked...."how ARE you?"

One of my biggest fears is losing my independence.

Positive Effects
hmmmmm.....

Adaptations
None needed at this time.

Employment
I'm mostly retired. I went to massage school after my "real" career and work part-time as a massage therapist in my own office.

More About Me
I like to ski, play tennis, knit, sew, quilt, read, cook and I'm learning to play golf. Last year, I decided I wanted to learn to play the guitar....what was I thinking?
