Diagnosis
Geographic Atrophy (Advanced Dry AMD) and Wet (Neovascular) Age-related Macular Degeneration

Treatment
I had about 8 shots in my right eye and it has been stable for at least the last year and a half. My left has has advanced dry MD (geographic atrophy). I'm taking AREDS2 for several years. I am a Korea veteran so get my eye care from the VA or a VA authorized private retinal specialist whom I see on a 6 month schedule.

Prognosis or Current State of Vision
Right Eye is stable, left fortunately is degrading slowly.

Family History
There is a history of AMD in my immediate and extended family.

Impact on My Life
My wife of 63 years is extremely hard of hearing (wears hearing aids0 so we actually compliment each other, I hear for her and she sees for me. Like any other imperment one just has to adjust accordingly. Fortunately me eye problems have come late in life so have not created major problems.

Employment
Started working as a material handler in a precision metal factory also set up blanking dies in punch presses. Went into tool room where I maintained and repaired dies. Relocated from Illinois to Florida and worked in Motorola model making shop. Eventually went into purchasing department at Motorola. Retired in 1995.

More About Me
I joined the Marine Corps Reserves in 1949 while a senior in high school. Turned 18 on July 24th and was called to active duty two weeks later for service in the Korean War. Spent 13 months in the Land of the Morning Calm. Met my wife in October 1956 and married in September 1957. Best thing that ever happened to me.
