AMD/Choroidal Neovascular Membrane
Age at Diagnosis
Prognosis or Current State of
Diagnosed for 3-4 months. Incurred small amount of vision loss according to the doctor, I feel as if though I have a large amount of loss with this large gray cloud in my vision.
My mother's brother was diagnosed with AMD in his late 60's and lost vision in both eyes.
Impact on My Life
Adjusting to the vision loss, driving has become more diffucult, especially at night. It has not affected my job much at this point, but I anticipate it very well could. There have been psycological impacts of aging for me, too.
None that I have found yet.
Changing my schedules a lot, I try to avoid driving at night and have switched to a day shift at my job to help with that. This is a whole other adjustment in itself, since I have worked the night shift for 2 yrs.
Factory/Production. Machine Operator for the past 6 yrs.
More About Me
I enjoy excercise, just being active in general. I live near a very nice trail and enjoy cycling and walking. I love the outdoors, and someday would love to walk the Appalachian Trail (vision willing).
