Age at Diagnosis
Impact on My Life
This was the biggest thing that happened in my life. Before I found out this disease existed, I was cautious and believed that a simple papercut could kill me. But knowing that my vision will never be perfectly clear was really difficult to go through; but as time goes on, I learned more and I realized it is ok, and I am proud to be who I am. Life brings us some surprises and tough times, but no matter what, you have to go through with it.
My best friend, my sister, and friends are really supportive of me, and I am so happy that they are here for me to go through this every step of the way.
I am still living my life and trying to understand more about stargardt disease. Sometimes it is tough when people in the crowd stare at you strangely or just don't understand. I have gotten used to not being able to recognize people.
