Diagnosis
MD - Glaucoma - Geographic atrophy in right eye.

Eyes Affected
Right mostly

Eye Color
Blue

Age at Diagnosis
77

Visual Acuity
20/100 right. 20/40 left.

Treatment
No particular treatment other than I-Caps. Also, drops for glaucoma, which appear to control it satisfactorily.

Prognosis or Current State of Vision
Almost impossible to read with right eye, and distortion is annoying. Small blind spot.

Family History
Parents both died at an early age, so have no info on what I may have inherited.

Impact on My Life
It's a little difficult to perform some paperwork, but it's more of a bother than a real handicap. Still drive, as my right eye still has good vision. I am fortunate to receive medications from the V.A. for a modest copay of $7.00.

Positive Effects
I've been able to appreciate being in generally good health and able to continue most activities....so far.

Adaptations
Wear conventional bifocals and reading glasses. Make use of magnifying glass when trying to read small print.

Working
Am a partner in a small sales agency, and do mostly administrative work for a few hours every day.

More About Me
I'm hoping my left eye holds up, as reading is one of my favorite hobbies. Have a wonderful wife and three boys. The part-time work is stimulating, and the the modest income means we can indulge in some little extras like dining out. As you can see, I'm pretty much of a novice at this MD thing, so if anyone has an information they think will be helpful I'd be grateful.
