Age at Diagnosis
None really. No one here really knows much about it. Took an xray of my eyes and found squiggley lines and told me it was Stargardt after getting out a book?? Got a second opinion: same thing. They get all excited but still dont know much.
I will go legally blind eventually?
Don't know. Was taken from family when I was 13 years old. Did some research, but so far it's only me with it, but there are a lot of things I can find out about my family history.
Impact On Your Life
It sucks. I still have my license to drive, but it's not really safe. Some color cars I don't see till it's too late. I get headaches a lot at work. I am on a computer all day, and the lighting sucks in my downstairs office. They have tried making my glasses stronger, but those give me migraines. I fell stupid a lot, because I can't see what others can see. I used to hunt, but even if I do see a deer, it's gone before I can sight it in. Its bad enough to make life difficult, but not bad enough to have to be on disability.
Just deal with it.
I am parts manager and am on the computer all day in bad lighting. I am getting slower and slower at my job. I have noticed, but not sure they have yet. But they will eventually, then I am really screwed.
