Music By A Very Rare Child
by Dan Roberts

Born optically blind from a condition called congenital anophthalmia, Brittany possesses, instead, amazing musical vision. Combining perfect pitch with total recall and uncanny inventiveness, she draws from a seemingly bottomless vessel of creativity to compose music with a depth and maturity well beyond her years.

As a special feature on MD Radio, here are seven compositions which Brittany completed between the ages of seven and eleven. The melodies and harmonies are hers, and only the orchestrations are mine. I am also doing the performing, since her keyboard skills were still developing at the time.

Brittany is now in her teens and living with her mother in the Northwest. She is in high school now, and her talent continues to develop. She once said music is her light, and this is her way of sharing her own special kind of sight with others.
